I didn’t know comic books, sports illustrated and the articles in playboy counted as ‘reading’. Since most Liberals I’ve ever talked to couldn’t name the speaker of the house or who their Senator is, I dont take much stock in surveys.

   I’m a conservative and I’m too busy working to read books all the time. If it is true that Libs read more than conservatives its only because they have all the time in the world, being most of them are on Welfare. Its either read a book or watch Jerry Springer.

   Yes, I think its true. The best selling non-fiction books are by non-liberals. So who do you think is buying and reading all the fiction literature.

   You know it’s the other way around……most republicans can’t name who holds which office. Liberals tend to read world news and various sources, while republicans listen to **** radio and Fox News which any high school student could prove as liars.

   That’s what they claim .. I wonder why non-fiction books by conservative authors consistently outsell books by liberals. Compare Ann Coulter to David Brock. Compare Hannity or Savage to anything ever written by an Air America talk show host … or to Hannity’s sidekick Alan Colmes Liberals read more fiction than conservatives. Well, that fits. They live in an unreal fantasy world anyway

   No, conservatives read just as much as libs only they only read one book: the Bible. The only problem is if you only read a 3,000 year old book you tend to miss a lot about what’s been going on since that book was written.

    Liberals take the time to educate themselves. They aren’t lazy and have their opinions handed to them by Rush Limbaugh. It is also shown that the higher educated you are, the more likely you are to be liberal. Those with degrees usually have to read to attain them. I know a lot of you Fox News watchers want to believe that all Democrats are lazy crackwhore system scammers, but most of those people don’t even bother to vote. The ones you have to actually reckon with have a brain in their head.

    you should get out of the gated community and visit some of your friends who don’t make $250 K a year in your party…

    It is obvious that Liberals do read more than Conservatives or Republicans in General. The Conservatives are scripted. They get their phrase of the week and repeat it over and over again and over and over again. They seem to think that the American people are so dumb that pounding these Rovian wordings is a good and effect way to promote brainwashing.
    The people need to end the Republican Party as it is now made up with the Scripted Right Wing Religious begets, the tightwad upper classes and their hired robot-servants.
    But that is up to the public to hold the responsible Republican Party to account and get them out of Government for a long time, a very long time!

    The poll specifics say that conservatives read an average of 8 a year and liberals read 9. Moderates only read 5, which makes you wonder about the poll.

    The thing they don’t mention is what type of books they read. Reading history and science and other non-fiction books would be more educational than a romance novel, but any reading is good. A previous poll showed that conservatives read more non-fiction and liberals read more fiction, so what does that tell us?

    Also this poll doesn’t include reading on the internet. I’ll bet the people on Yahoo! Answers read a lot of their material from the internet.

    I found one interesting point. Both sides said that the other side is scripted and repeats the same talking points. This is why the two sides don’t get along. We shouldn’t stereotype like that. When one side derides the other they’re really talking about the far extremes of each side, which represents probably 5% of the population.

    Maybe we should try to find more of what we have in common than to look for all the differences. The fact that a lot know how to read is a start, right?
